No others Christ – No others Gospel – No others Spirit
The Full Gospel Mission Cameroon is an Evangelic Pentecostal Mission created by a Presidential decree No.69/DF/154 of 26th April, 1969 and Ministerial Order No. 73A/ME/ATF/DAD/LP/I of 10th June, 1969. Culturally the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon was compelled by real needs and external influences to create the Education department.
Historically, the Mission saw the pressing need to involve in the offer of education to the youth in the church at a time when they attended some confessional primary and secondary schools and were stigmatized. Sometimes, they suffered threats and dismissals just because they were of a Pentecostal denomination. Frustrated by these negative tendencies, and encouraged by the experience we had, a social center was created at Muyuka in the South West region which trained several female members of the church in Domestic Science. Due to the above, the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon set out in 1996 to obtain authorizations to run schools.
By the time the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon applied for an Education Secretariat, the Mission could count a good number of schools authorized under the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Secondary Education. By this time most of our schools were either affiliated to the Cameroon Baptist Convention (C.B.C.), the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (P.C.C) or the lay private Education secretariats.
The Full Gospel High School (FUGOHIS) Muyuka was created in the year 1973 as a Home Economics and Bible Studies Centre. It became a full-fledged Technical Secondary School approved by the Minister of Secondary Education, with creation degree No 162/J2/2983/MINEDUC/89/DEP/SCAFES/SECP 7TH October 1996 and as a Comprehensive High School with order No 487507/MINESEC/SC/DETN/SDSEPETN/CSGEPETIN in 2007. This was closely followed by an exceptional authorization to both create and open which were signed in October 1998 for the Full Gospel Secondary School Bamenda, today known as the Full Gospel High School (FGHS) Bamenda and the Full Gospel Bilingual Teachers Training College (FGBTTC) Mbengwi respectively.
Today we have Full Gospel Nursery and Primary schools littered all over the country from the high lands of North west, West, South West, Littoral, Center, South, East, Adamawa regions and the Far North.
The PPEA on realizing our seriousness with a reasonable school map highly recommended the grant for the Secretariat before both the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education on 31st October 2014. Though the death of one of the ministers concerned, that of the Secondary Education, at the time caused the process of the authorization to restart,
However, the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon was finally granted an Education Secretariat through a joint Decision No 8870/BI/1464/MINEDUB/SG/DSEPB of 1st August 2016 and No 03/16/MINESEC/SG/DESG of 1st August 2016, on the 31st of August 2016. Equally the Education secretary was appointed in the person of Mrs. Nkeh Zita Ngwenyi by a joint Arrete No 752/J/23/MINEDUB/SG/DSEPB/SDRA of 8th April 2020 and No 04/20/MINESEC/SG/DESG/DETN of 14 April 2020 by the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education respectively to run and manage all the FGMC schools. The major functions of the Education secretary as outline in the ministerial decision are to carry out the pedagogic, administrative and financial management of all the Full Gospel Mission schools.
The first appointed Education Secretary for Full Gospel Mission Cameroon and the first female Education Secretary took over from the interim Education Secretary in the person of Mr. Musa Charles. The handing over ceremony which was presided over by the late General Superintendent Emeritus Rev. Njemo David and the General Superintendent Eneritus Rev. Enonchong Daniel Mbiwan took place in Kumba on the 5th September 2020. This was closely followed by blessing on the 6th /09/2020 at Full Gospel Church Mbonge road Kumba. The final installation of the Education Secretary took place in Yaounde at Full Gospel Mission Tchinga on the 27th of September 2020.
The Education department has a National Education Board that was created on the 8th of September 2022 by the General Superintendent Emeritus Rev. ENONCHONG Daniel Mbiwan. With the increasing challenges within the education department, there was a need to establish an arm to assist in the functioning of the secretariat, reason why the Ad-hoc committee was put in place on the 2nd of September 2022. In addition to boost the performance of the secretariat, the Pedagogic Inspector for Basic Education in the person of Rev. BALLA ONDOA Lazare was nominated on the 27th January 2023 by the General Superintendent Rev. Sokeng Alain Clement. He will carry out the Pedagogic inspection and supervision of all the Nursery and Primary Schools under Full Gospel Mission Cameroon. It is important to note that the General Superintendent is the founder of all Full Gospel Mission schools.
The Full Gospel Mission Cameroon have a total of 35 functional Nursery and primary schools, 4 secondary schools, 1 teacher training college and 1 Professional training center (PTC) giving a total of 41 functional schools. As a result of the ongoing crisis in the NW and SW regions of Cameroon, we have 14 Non Functional Nursery and Primary Schools and 2 non-Functional Secondary schools in these areas. All of the functional and the non-functional schools give a Grand total of 57 schools in FGMC.
However, some of the achievements of the Education Secretariat are as follows:
– Taking control of all the schools in the SW 3 Area.
– Construction of a twin fence and a Multipurpose Hall at FGHS Bamenda. Project funded by PPRD through the UNDP
– Through this department, the FGMC has been rated as a low-risk organization by the UN.
– Security of students/teachers and increase in enrolment at FGHS Bamenda because of the newly constructed infrastructures.
– Rehabilitation of Fugopans Mutengene and provision of benches and didactic materials.
– Some schools have been created in the hard-to-reach areas like Ngie, Santa, Menchum Valley and Ndop.
– The Education secretariat has been able to repay some of the debt owed to the Protestant Private Education Agency (PPEA) to the tune of 10,000,000FCFA plus.
– We supported the acquisition of a piece of land for the education department in Tiko to the tune of 6.000.000FCFA
– Finally, the Education department has join hands with SW 3 to put up a modern structure for Full Gospel Secondary School and Full Gospel Nursery and Primary School Molyko, Buea.
The department since creation has in several ways met some of the holistic objectives of the Full Gospel Mission Cameroon. We will continue to trust God for a high Moral, Spiritual and Academic excellence in the Education Department of Full Gospel Mission Cameroon.
